RALEIGH – Kathryn Johnston is now the official Secretary of the N.C. Department of Administration. Governor Pat McCrory named Johnston early Wednesday as the new head after she served the last two months as the acting secretary and deputy secretary before that.

“North Carolina is fortunate to have Kathryn Johnston’s leadership in the Department of Administration, and I look forward to her continued service,” Gov. McCrory said.

Johnston follows Bill Daughtridge who was appointed to the Industrial Commission in February, replacing former commission chair Drew Heath who was named McCrory’s budget chief.

Johnston is a North Carolina native and earned an undergraduate degree from UNC-Greensboro where she double majored in Economics and Political Science. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from N.C. State University.
