McCain honors Tillis wager, extols Panthers on Senate floor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Arizona Sen. John McCain paid up on his wager with North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis on the NFC Championship game, speaking on the Senate floor Monday afternoon. The Carolina Panthers walloped the Arizona Cardinals 49-15 Sunday, sending the Charlotte-based Panthers franchise to its second Super Bowl.

McCain, who wore a Panthers black-and-blue necktie that he joked was an “assault on the senses of C-SPAN viewers all over the world,” turned serious when he said he said “it is with all sincerity that I wish the Carolina Panthers luck as they play the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.”
